Under Ricardus’ leadership, the Scouts of Aley were the first to have a girls’ wing. Though a female’s role was not envisaged in the Lebanese Scouts, he opened a section for nurses so young ladies could join in. His vision is rooted in his experience with the Lebanese Red Cross, where he received the training to an Advanced First Aid Certificate.

Establishing gender equality, Ricardus also managed to apply social equality; for instance, the well-to-do of his scouts gladly assisted at purchasing the uniforms for the unable of the troop so those would not be underprivileged or discriminated. It is essential that they are proud of themselves and each other.

Equal by creation and equally deserving of love and caring is the guiding belief that Ricardus fervently expresses throughout his life and work.
